The Truth About Financial Independence

It ain’t easy. BUT it is achievable and I want it.

Many of the blogs out there I have read make this thing sound easy. I’m new to this and already see so many unknowns:

  • I don’t know yet if my spouse is going to be along for the ride.
  • How do I know if this will help get more joy out of my life?
  • How will I be able to create something that will help others get more joy out of their lives?
  • What are the topics that are going to resonate?

But what is the alternative:

  • Continue working in a job that is, at best, partially fulfilling
  • Have nearly zero flexibility in setting a work schedule
  • Spend less and less time with family as the career advances
  • Never achieve the level of financial stability that would facilitate making family, self and community the first priority

These several points are scary.  We only have one life to live and dedicating it to helping a faceless business generate ever expanding returns to remote shareholders seems like a large waste.  Why not pursue a life that creates values for others in a more direct way?

For nearly 10 years now, I have wanted to start my own business and work towards financial independence. I am not interested in just “quitting my job” because I don’t want to work.  I want to retire “to” my next venture and not “from” a job.

In these virtual pages I plan to share how to accomplish this, chart the journey that leads me there and have a little fun along the way.

All this sounds great but “What the hell does financial independence look like?

This is not about getting rich quick or buying a yacht.  This is about living the lifestyle my family wants to live without the shackles of the standard American job.

I hope this is the start of a journey that helps thousands of others achieve flexibility, family and financial freedom.  Cheers!
