The Top 7 FI-Related Blogs

This blog post will change over time but I want to provide a list of the best personal finance blogs, sites, posts, etc. They will change so feel free to come back and check out the updated list……

  • BiggerPockets – This one may seem unorthodox in the FI world but Josh (@jrdorkin) and Brandon (@BrandonAtBP) started this whole thing for me. I have been interested in real estate for a long time and these two brought a voice to the thoughts I had about rental property investing for years and captivated me with their podcast and the community that they developed. Thanks guys! – In the past year or so, BiggerPockets has expanded its scope to include amazing FI content through two podcasts, the BiggerPockets Money Show (released every Monday) and the BiggerPockets Business Podcast (released every Tuesday). Amazing work here.
  • Mr. Money Mustache – The godfather of FI.  I have yet to see a site or professional in the FIRE community who doesn’t look to Pete for direction on how to execute on a killer plan to achieve financial independence. Also, this man loves to swing hammers. Amen. Pete, your leadership has set the path for so many.
  • Mad Fientist – Who in the FIRE world doesn’t love a movement leader who expresses himself through spreadsheets!  The Mad Fientist lays down the technical details and science that underpins how many folks want to live.
  • ChooseFI – This blog and podcast was my next step in to the FIRE community.  Jonathan and Brad have created a great resource for thousands of people who want to achieve financial independence.
  • 1500 Days – Showing us all how achievable this thing is and how to do it as a family. Mr. and Mrs. 1500 are funny and effective. The Awakening post is a must-read for anyone new to FI.
  • The 4-Hour Week – Tim’s approach to lifestyle design has inspired millions to generate income to allow for a flexible life. His focus on developing businesses that are systems-based and can allow bright individuals to design a meaningful life.  And isn’t that why we are all doing this?
  • Mint.com – If you want to manage your money in the most simple and automated way possible, please visit Mint RIGHT NOW! Mint’s tools are unparalleled for ongoing spending analysis and understanding your net worth. If you are trying to predict your future cash flows, you are probably better off to create your own spreadsheet or to use a tools someone else might have created.
